A 15-Year-Old Mother - a Narrow Escape from Death: How Your Support Saved Margaret:

In the remote village of Okum in Eastern Uganda, Margaret’s childhood was cut short. Forced into marriage at just 12, she gave birth at 13—alone at home, without skilled care. Her baby did not survive. Poverty, harmful traditions, and poor health seeking behaviours had stolen both her youth and her hope.

In July 2025, history nearly repeated itself. Now 15 and pregnant again, Margaret labored for days at home. Weak and terrified, she faced the same deadly risks that had claimed her first child.

This time, the community intervened. A neighbor notified our local JPM Foundation representative. Within hours, our support team arrived, lifting Margaret to the nearest health facility. She received urgent maternal care and her newborn was immediately immunized—her first safe encounter with quality healthcare.

Margaret’s story is not an isolated one. In remote villages like Okum, poverty and outdated practices continue to drive high rates of maternal and child deaths. Families underestimate the benefits of skilled care and safe delivery, while young mothers pay the ultimate price.

JPM Foundation International is changing this narrative. Through direct support, health education, and economic empowerment, we’re bringing quality healthcare closer to those who need it most. Because no girl should die giving life, and no child should be lost to preventable causes.

Your support makes this possible.
When you give, you fuel the vehicles that reach villages like Okum. You fund the health workers who save lives. You empower young mothers like Margaret to break the cycle of poverty and neglect.

Together, we can reduce maternal and child mortality.
